The German Ram is a colorful and peaceful species of cichlid that need a little more care than other aquarium fish, due to their more relaxed nature. Its appearance is considered flamboyant and outwardly striking despite its more relaxed demeanor.

Accompanied by a stocky build, the German Ram likes to spend its time amidst the cover of caves, patches of vegetation and submerged vegetation. Rams will only become aggressive when there is a scarcity of hiding places, so make sure to provide an ample amount.

An omnivore, the German Ram will often suppress their appetites when introduced to a new habitat, but are often coerced to eat with a meal that packs more taste. German Rams have a life expectancy of around three years and are an excellent addition to any aquarium.
